Inspirations
Travel is a significant source of inspiration for me, particularly when it comes to art and architecture. During my university years coupled my journalism visual communications studies with medieval and Renaissance art, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for the texture and colors of old architecture. Growing up as an Army Brat in West Germany, I had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe from a young age and witness the blending of old and new architectural styles. This has influenced my design aesthetic, drawing me closer to the Art Deco Streamline period, with its sleek lines and sophisticated simplicity.
Living in Washington Heights, in NYC, I am surrounded by reminders of this period in the architecture of my neighborhood's 100+ years-old buildings. The flowing lines and elegant details of this era inspire me every day.
Photography has been a passion of mine since the age of 6, and it continues to influence my design choices. I am drawn to capturing light, colors, and emotions through my photography. Images are also a power inspiration for color palettes to draw from.
Water is another significant source of inspiration for me, whether it be a river, the sea, a lake, or a pond. The colors and life of the Mediterranean Sea, in particular, captivate me. I never tire of experiencing its beauty.
Finally, my children and their unique perspective on the world around them inspire me to capture emotions and communicate what cannot be said through my designs. Collaborating with others is also a significant source of inspiration for me, as others opinions and thoughts push me to be better in all that I do.
